MD9SW District Governor Ken Klemish

9SW DG Ken Klemish has been a member of the Adair Lions Club for 30 years, and was 1993 Outstanding Club Member. He received the International President’s Leadership Medal in 2008, and has three International President’s Certificates of Appreciation. A graduate of the first Great Plains Lions Leadership Institute in 2003, he served as Seminars Co-chair for both 2013 and 2016 USA/Canada Forum Host Committee, was MD9 Co-Chair for Leader Dog’s 75 year kennel renovation, and co-chair for 9SW Leader Dogs for 14 years, 100% district every year. He served as 9X6/9SW Iowa Lions Foundation Trustee 2006-2009, and was a 100% district all 3 years. He’s served as District GMT/Membership Chair 6 years, a zone chair five times, and has served on Iowa’s Club Health Assist Team. Ken received an International Extension Award for starting the Stuart Lions Club. He has received the2005 Outstanding District Service Award, the 2002 District Lion of the Year, and has been a Certified Guiding Lion since 2002, when the program began. Ken is a Warren Coleman Honorary Award recipient and a Melvin Jones Fellow.

DG Ken has been the local John Deere Man for 49 years, managing a store for nearly 40 years, receiving numerous managerial awards for teams and resources. He taught classes over the Iowa Communications Network and at community colleges on several ag topics. He served in Iowa National Guard for 11 years, achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class (E7), and was Soldier of the Year in 1975-76. He was a Cub Scout Leader, Adair Citizen of the Year in 1994, Adair-Casey Honorary FFA Chapter Farmer in 1995, co-chaired Adair’s 125th anniversary in 1997, and has served on numerous community and church boards. His Partner in Service is PCC Ardie, a Lion for 16 years. Together, they have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. They enjoy family, traveling, and serving together in Lionism.
